Teton Skier Triggers Avalanche

(JACKSON, Wyo.) – A backcountry skier nearly lost his life Friday after triggering an avalanche in a remote area of Grand Teton National Park. Emergency crews responded to a call early Friday afternoon that a slide had occurred in the Albright Peak area. Skier Jimmy Chin reportedly rode the avalanche for over 1,000 feet. No injuries were reported and all skiers were accounted for. Park rangers are reminding skiers to be extra cautious this time of year as the snowpack begins to loosen up due to warmer weather.
