Education Referendum Meets Signature Requirement

  Published at

(POCATELLO) – After gathering over 48,000 signatures, a referendum on Idaho’s education reform laws will appear on the 2012 ballot. Lawmakers say it’s a chance for the people to have their voices heard in a more meaningful way. Local News 8 spoke with many people who are happy about the referendum.
“A lot of people have looked at these laws and said, ‘This isn’t what we voted for. We didn’t vote for this.’ And so what they want is an opportunity to weigh in and vote for these laws and say yes or no,” Pocatello Education Association President Bill Davis said.
Despite growing opposition, State Superintendent Tom Luna believes the majority of Idahoans will vote to uphold education reform.
