(JEFFERSON COUNTY) – Rising flood waters have forced Jefferson County officials to declare a disaster. County commissioners and the Army Corps of Engineers have been monitoring flood levels for the past few weeks, expressing concerns that the water will overwhelm the county’s ability to respond. Officials aren’t sure how high water levels might be, though they caution residents living in the flood plain to make preparations for wide-spread flooding.
