Montpelier Declares State of Emergency

  Published at

(MONTPELIER) – Flooding problems are a growing concern for residents living in Bear Lake County – enough that the city of Montpelier is declaring a state of emergency. When settlers arrived nearly 150 years ago, they had no idea they were building the city in a flood plain. Now officials have plans to divert the water down Third street and out of town. The National Weather Service notes that snow pack levels are higher this year than they were in the 1997 flood.
