American Falls. ID – After the American Falls School District submitted their findings to the Power County Sheriff from an internal investigation that they initiated, Sheriff Jim Jeffries is making sure that one local female teacher will be charged with felony sexual battery.
Zenna Galeria, age 23 is the head volleyball coach for the school, and listed herself as an “English as a Second Language” aide on her personal blog. Zenna and a 17 year old male student started texting each other back in the 2010-2011 school year. Sheriff Jefferies didn’t disclose what type of contact the student and teacher had, but said that he would not be perusing felony sexual battery had there not been any physical contact between the parties.
Sheriff Jefferies stated that Zenna has cooperated with law enforcement, but she has not been formerly charged. Local News 8 reports that it could be as early as today (Friday).
The alleged affair lasted for a little over 5 months, even though Zenna states that she is married on her personal blog.
American Falls School District has eyebrows raised in their direction. Whispers of negligence seem to be spreading across social networks. This isn’t the 1st time the school has had to deal with a student/teacher relationship. Less than a year ago, William Hamilton, who was a teacher, plead guilty to two counts of statutory rape.
Local News 8 reports that the school district submitted this statement after questioned about the incident:
“Zenna Galeria, head volleyball coach and teacher’s aide at American Falls High School for one year has been relieved of her duties following a district investigation for events associated with her district responsibilities. Since this is a personnel matter, the district will have no further comment, but a search for a replacement is presently underway.”
Check back, as we we will have more details as they unfold.
