Home Burglary Results in An Assault With A Rock

An Idaho Falls man was taken into custody Tuesday night after police say he entered a home and assaulted a woman and her husband during a burglary. 25-year-old Eric Van Shupp faces aggravated battery charges after he hit the woman in the back of the head with a rock. The incident happened on the 200 block of Tautphaus Drive shortly after 9:00 p.m. Police say Shupp was being held on the ground by another man when they arrived. The woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
