Blad Is Denied A Pay Raise

All but one of Pocatello’s city council members voted against a plan to raise their pay by nearly four percent. Mayor Brian Blad sought a pay increase of nearly $3,000 annually, but the council members rejected the proposal, with the exception of Councilman Gary Moore. Blad believes cutting taxes across the city merits a pay increase, though Councilman Steve Brown says the city needs to be sensitive with budget issues, given the city’s $2 million deficit at the beginning of June. Blad’s current salary pays him just over $74,000 annually.
