UPDATE: A former American Falls High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student was arraigned in court Monday. Zenna Galeria, a teacher’s aid and former volleyball coach appeared in court, along with supportive family members and student-athletes. Galeria has a no contact order with the alleged victim. If convicted, she could face up to life in prison with a $50,000 fine. A preliminary hearing has been set for Aug. 26.
The former American Falls Volleyball Coach/Teacher’s Aide Zenna Galeria has been officially charged with felony sexual battery for engaging in a physical relationship with a 17 year old student. Galeria has not been arrested, but has been served a summons to appear in court August 15th.
What started as simple text-messaging between a married teacher and a student, soon turned physical over a 5 month period. The American Falls School district conducted an internal investigations when suspicion arose about a possible teacher/student relationship. After more details were uncovered, the American Falls School district fired Galeria. Sheriff Jefferies has overseen the investigation after the school district lodged a formal complaint.
