Update-Confirmed: Yellowstone Hiker Killed by Grizzly
(YELLOWSTONE, N.P.) – Yellowstone National Park officials have confirmed that a hiker was killed by a grizzly bear last week. It’s the second fatal grizzly attack in the park this year. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old John Wallace of Chassell, Mich. Rangers say the man was camping alone in an area along the Mary Mountain Trail and that the attack occurred sometime Wednesday or Thursday. Prior to this year’s two fatal maulings, it had been 24 years since a park visitor had died from a bear attack.
