Illegally Guiding A fishing Trip Will Cost You

(St. Anthony, ID) – An Idaho man, who illegally guided a fishing trip on a fork of the Snake River, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge. Chase Putnam from Victor, ID, was ordered by a judge last week to pay more than $2,600.00 in fines and court costs. That is more than eight times the amount Chase charged for his guiding services to anglers during a fishing trip earlier this year in Fremont County.
The Rexburg Standard Journal reports that Putnam is a licensed fishing guide in the nearby state of Wyoming, but not in Idaho, where he illegally charged two anglers $300 for his services in June.
Magistrate Keith Walker prohibited Putnam from fishing in Idaho for two years, while he is on probation. A 30-day jail sentence was suspended.
