(YELLOWSTONE, N.P.) – Yellowstone National Park’s Bison population has dropped slightly compared to last year. An estimated 3,700 bison now roam the park, down 200 from last year’s figures. Park officials say at least 500 animals died during the winter, with another 200 killed by hunters after they migrated out of the park. This year’s tally includes several hundred newborn calves. The park set a record in 2005 with nearly 5,000 bison accounted for.
