(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Public schools chief Tom Luna spoke to Congress in the nation’s capitol Tuesday in support of reforms for No Child Left Behind.
Luna told lawmakers that the previous version of the law fell short in its equal guidelines for all states. He says the new wording of the law is better, and gives states more discretion over how to implement accountability systems. He says the new version of the legislation would allow states to develop and implement systems to measure academic growth and proficiency on their own.
