Simplot to Close Aberdeen Plant
Published at(ABERDEEN) – The J.R. Simplot Company will be closing its potato processing plant in Aberdeen. Officials say a new state-of-the-art facility will be built over the next two and a half years at a location in Caldwell. The new plant will replace existing facilities in Aberdeen and Nampa, resulting in the loss of just under 800 jobs. Authorities are not divulging the cost of the project, but said it will be the largest single investment the company has ever made in Idaho. Of the nearly 2,000 people living in Aberdeen, 111 work at Simplot.
