According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sharon Murphy has filed a lawsuit related to the mold against the law firm that represented her in a previous complaint.

Brittany Murphy died in December of 2009, and her husband, Simon Monjack, passed away the following May.  Sharon Murphy alleges the firm, which was hired to handle a suit against the builders of the Hollywood Hills home that has been settled, “should have known that Brittany and Simon had died and that their deaths were the result of complications from conditions associated with the subject property.”

She maintains that the firm should have informed her that she may have been able to pursue a wrongful death claim. She says she can no longer pursue the claim because of the settlement.

Los Angeles County assistant chief coroner Ed Winter tells The Hollywood Reporter that at the time of Monjack’s death, Sharon Murphy would not allow an inspection of the home and said she didn’t think mold was a factor in his death.

The coroner’s office ruled that Brittany Murphy died of pneumonia, anemia and prescription drug intoxication.  Monjack died of pneumonia and anemia, according to the coroner’s office.
