Chelsea Defender Terry Faces Criminal Charge
Published at(LONDON) — John Terry, defender for English Premier League soccer club Chelsea, is facing a criminal charge after allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, who is black, during a match in October.
Terry, who is the former captain of the England national team, is due in court February 1.
Another Premier League player, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, was suspended on Tuesday for eight matches for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra during a match in October. Suarez is from Uruguay and Evra, who is also black, is French.
