Closer Andrew Bailey Dealt To The Red Sox
Published at(BOSTON) — The Boston Red Sox have acquired closer Andrew Bailey and outfielder Ryan Sweeney from the Oakland Athletics in-exchange for outfielder Josh Reddick, third baseman Miles Head and right-handed pitcher Raul Alcantara.
Bailey will take over the closing duties for Jonathan Papelbon, who left via free agency this off-season for the Philadelphia Phillies.
The 27-year old Bailey is a two-time all-star, having complied 75 saves and 174 strikeouts during his three-year career. He was named the AL Rookie of the Year in 2009.
