(CLEARFIELD, Utah) – Hundreds of European starlings showing up dead in a northern Utah community are the result of a city-wide poisoning campaign. Officials in Clearfield say the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources began poisoning the pesky birds on farmland nearby. Nearly 400 dead birds had been swept up on Monday. They say the birds will likely continue to fall to the ground for the remainder of the week.
