Emmitt Smith Calls Out the Cowboys

Andy Kropa/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — This Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys will face the New York Giants for the NFC East Division crown. The winner goes onto the playoffs, the loser goes home. As if the pressure wasn’t already mounting on the Cowboys, one the franchises greatest players has made strong comments against the current regime. The NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith, questions the mental toughness of his former team.
“Mental toughness for four quarters or five quarters, if you have to go that far,” Smith said. “But that’s something our Cowboys have not been able to do in those close games. And that’s where mental toughness comes into play.”
When the Cowboys and Giants last played in week 14, Dallas held a 12-point lead with under six minutes left in the game, only to see the Giants storm back and win the game 37-34. Had the Cowboys won that game, they’d have the division locked up already. The Cowboys can only hope history won’t repeat itself this Sunday.
