Kings Announce Hiring of Darryl Sutter
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — The Los Angeles Kings (15-14-4) have officially announced that Darryl Sutter will be the new head coach and will be at practice on Wednesday morning. His first game will come on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks.
He’ll be replacing Terry Murray, who was fired on Dec. 12. Interim coach John Stevens went 1-2-1 since taking over for Murray.
The Kings are currently in fourth place in the Pacific and are 10th in the Western Conference.
Sutter coached for 11 seasons in Chicago, San Jose, and Calgary. The stops include 10 playoff appearances and a Stanley Cup final berth in 2004 as Flames head coach.
