(NEW YORK) — The rich have got even richer as top-ranked LSU has landed one of the top recruits in the country — and even better, he’s a quarterback. Indiana Prep quarterback Gunner Kiel has committed to the number one-ranked Tigers.
Kiel is the second tier among quarterbacks, and ranked twentieth nationally on the ESPNU 150 list. Kiel decided to attend LSU after weighing other offers from Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He had originally committed to Indiana, but there was growing friction between Kiel’s parents and the university, resulting in Kiel to decommit on October 20.
“When I went to Louisiana, it was just awesome,” Kiel told MyIndianaFootball.com. “Friday I woke up and I told my parents, ‘I’m ready to commit. I want to go to LSU and this is the best place for me.'”
Kiel was named the Gatorade State Player Of the Year in Indiana.
