Center Brook Lopez suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. He is expected to be out of action between four and eight weeks.

In his fourth season in the NBA, the 23-year old Lopez is one of the most offensively skilled big men in the NBA today. this past season, Lopez averaged 20.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He has never missed a game in his NBA career before this season.

In an effort to replace Lopez, the Nets have acquired center Mehmet Okur from the Utah Jazz for a 2015 second-round draft pick. The nine-year veteran spent the past seven seasons with Utah and averaged just 4.9 points per game in 13 games played last season.
