New Job for Producer Who Attempted to Blackmail David Letterman
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — The former CBS news producer who attempted to blackmail David Letterman in 2009 has been hired to work on the Investigation Discovery show On the Case with Paula Zahn, according to TVNewser.
Joe Halderman attempted to blackmail the Late Show with David Letterman host for $2 million, threatening to release details about the star’s personal life. Letterman later admitted that he had affairs with members of his staff. Halderman pleaded guilty to blackmail in 2010 and served four months behind bars.
The executive producer of On the Case, Scott Weinberger, released a statement saying, “We are confident that Halderman will make significant contributions to the success of our award-winning investigative newsmagazine.”
Halderman is a former producer of 48 Hours Mystery, a CBS show for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award.
