(DES MOINES, Iowa) — In a new ad released in Iowa, Rick Perry slams the four candidates who served in Congress.
“If Washington’s the problem, why trust a congressman to fix it?” an announcer reads as pictures of Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum appear across the screen. “Among them, they’ve spent 63 years in Congress, leaving us with debt, earmarks, and bailouts.”
The thirty second ad, titled “Part-time Congress,” plays off the portion of Perry’s government reform plan which promotes members of Congress working part time. Perry has touted this plan throughout his Iowa bus tour, and it draws applause at each of his events.
