(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – An Idaho Falls man accused of firing several shots at the White House will be detained pending trial. In a ruling issued Monday, 21-year-old Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was ordered to remain behind bars “to ensure the safety of the public and the president.” U.S. Magistrate Judge John Facciola (Fah-chee-oh-luh) noted that the Idaho native is a “particularly dangerous individual.” Ortega’s public defender argues that the government has failed to establish that his client was the shooter or that the president was the target.
