Otter Proposes State-Backed Fund

(BOISE) – Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has plans to unveil a state-backed investment fund aimed at bolstering Idaho’s economy through new technology and research. The plan will lure talented researchers to state universities as well as the Center for Advanced Energy Studies. The initiative is modeled after a similar program in Utah that’s brought in over $70 million in state support since 2006. The proposal will be among Otter’s priorities for the upcoming 2012 state legislature.
