(NEW YORK) — The Texas Rangers won the Yu Darvish sweepstakes according to reports by ESPN on Monday.
Darvish is considered to be the best Japanese professional pitcher in the league. Sources said the Rangers bid was around $51.7 million.
Bidding for the posting fee closed last Wednesday, and the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters had until 5 p.m. EST on Tuesday to accept.
The Rangers will now have 30 days to reach a deal with Darvish and his representatives.
