(PISCATAWAY, N.J.) — The pandemonium was back in Piscataway on Thursday night, but this time it was inside at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.
In two overtimes, the Scarlet Knights shocked the Florida Gators, 85-83. Freshman guard Eli Carter put in 31 points in the game but the biggest two points came in the second overtime when he made the go-ahead basket.
“My teammates had confidence in me,” Carter said. “I took the big shot and made it.”
Rutgers (8-5) has now rolled off four straight wins.
For Florida (10-3) it is back to the drawing board.
“I thought the difference in the game, in my opinion, was I thought their guys played the right way,” said Florida coach Billy Donovan.
