Tarzan’s Sidekick “Cheetah” the Chimpanzee Dies

Cheetah the chimpanzee, which appeared in the 1930s Tarzan films Tarzan the Ape Man and Tarzan and His Mate alongside star Johnny Weissmuller, passed away Saturday at a primate sanctuary in Palm Harbor, Florida, according to The Tampa Tribune. Cheetah died of kidney failure. He was believed to be around 80 years old.
According to a sanctuary spokeswoman, Cheetah enjoyed fingerpainting, football, and nondenominational Christian music.
