(NEW YORK) — The San Francisco 49ers recently placed wide receiver Braylon Edwards on waivers, ending his brief stint with the team. Since the team has an open spot for a wide receiver now, one of the greatest 49ers wide receivers of all time would like a reunion. No, not Jerry Rice — Terrell Owens.
Owens spent his first eight seasons with the team, but his tenure ended rather tumultuously, to put it nicely. Even though its been nearly eight years since he put on a 49ers uniform, Owens wouldn’t mind a putting on a 49ers uniform one more time.
“Let em kno if they need me, I’m ready homie!! I’m ready to take em deep!!” Owens said in a tweet directed towards 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who played with Owens in Buffalo.
Whitner responded to Owens, saying he would vouch that Owens was a great teammate in Buffalo. Owens has yet to play for anyone this season after suffering a torn ACL during the summer. The 38-year old seems to have no plans on retiring yet.
