(LEXINGTON) — The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Louisville Cardinals 69-62, to claim college basketball bragging rights in the state of Kentucky.
Kentucky freshman Michael Kidd Gilchrist led the way for the Cats with 24 points and 19 rebounds.
“It was crazy out there,” Kidd-Gilchrist said. “And I’m (just) a freshman.”
The win extended Kentucky’s home winning streak to 44 games, the longest in the country.
Both teams get a couple days off before resuming play Tuesday.
