The 21-year-old Ball rushed for 1,923 yards and scored 39 touchdowns this season, tying the NCAA single-season touchdown record held by former Oklahoma State running back Barry Sanders.

In Monday’s Rose Bowl, the native of Wentzville, Missouri, rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown in his team’s 45-38 loss to Oregon.

He was projected by NFL talent evaluators to be a third-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

“I do believe I’m better than a third round,” Bell said. “Once I saw that, I kind of was leaning more towards to come back for my players and also for myself. I’m really looking forward to bettering my stock and preparing even harder in the off-season.”

Ball was named to the First-Team All-Big Ten in 2011.
