Aller/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The NHL All-Star Game features the league’s best and brightest players, but sometimes injuries force players to miss the game. Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin, who is one of the NHL’s biggest stars, has decided he won’t attend the annual event, but he’s completely healthy.

Ovechkin was recently suspended for three games by the NHL after he launched himself to hit Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek, even though no penalty was given to Ovechkin. Since he’s suspended, Ovechkin doesn’t think he should still have to participate in the All-Star Game.

“My heart is not there. I got suspended, so why [do] I gave to go there?” Ovechkin said. “I love the [All Star] game. It’s a great event. I love to be there.”

In 47 games played this season, Ovechkin has 20 goals and 19 assists.
