ABC News(GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala) — A Guatemalan congressman was killed in an attack on his car on Friday.

Valentin Leal Caal and his brother Erick were near the Congress building where he was set to return to office when they were attacked by gunmen on a motorcycle. The driver of the congressman’s car was injured in the attack.

President-elect Otto Perez Molina condemned the attack, saying he laments the violence and insecurity.

Despite running as a right-wing opposition lawmaker, Leal had decided to join Molina’s Patriotic Party.
