(INDIANAPOLIS) — For what was a pretty quiet media day in Indianapolis on Tuesday, New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs added some fuel to the fire with their MetLife Stadium foes the New York Jets.
Jacobs who is a close friend of Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress told the media that Burress never wanted to sign on with the Jets before the season.
“Oh, no question, I know he did. I know he wanted to come to the Giants. We just didn’t think it was going to be able to be done financially,” said Jacobs when asked if Burress wanted to return to Big Blue. “But he may be (back) next year, who knows?”
Burress signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Jets last season. The Giants, whom Burress revisited before signing with the Jets, offered an incentive laden contract with only $1 million guaranteed.
Burress had an impressive return after returning from his jail sentence on gun charges, with 45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011.
