(DALLAS) — The achievements just keep coming for Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki. He already cemented his legacy last season after leading the team to an NBA title, but now the individual accolades are starting to pile up. After scoring 11 points last night in the team’s 102-76 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Nowitzki became the 23rd player in NBA history to score 23,000 points.
“I’m trying to keep going and keep trying to help this team and franchise win as many games as I can,” Nowitzki told Mavs.com. “All the milestones are gonna be great when I look back on my career in 10-15 years.”
It took Nowitzki 1,005 games to reach the achievement, passing current Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen in the process. He is also the third highest currently active scorer in the NBA as well. If Nowitzki keeps up his current scoring rate (18 points per game) he will likely move in the top 20.
