(FOXBOROUGH, Mass.) — New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has agreed to become Penn State’s next head football coach, according to ESPN. An official announcement by Penn State is expected on Saturday.
“The Penn State search committee was looking for a guy who certainly had some NFL pedigree,” ESPN senior NFL insider Chris Mortensen said. “For Bill O’Brien, it’s a guy who actually spent all of his coaching career in college until he joined the Patriots in 2007. So he has a considerable amount of experience.”
Tom Bradley had being the interim coach after Joe Paterno was fired amid the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.
