(NEW YORK) — Roy Oswalt is scheduled to meet with the Texas Rangers on Monday, according to an ESPN source.
The 34-year-old Oswalt is coming off a season in which he was placed on the DL twice with a lower back issue.
The Rangers already have a fully loaded starting rotation with the addition of Yu Darvish and their commitment to move last year’s closer, Neftali Feliz, to the rotation.
“Should Oswalt get signed and want to start and earn a spot, that would shift somebody else, maybe Matt Harrison or someone else to the bullpen, or require the Rangers to make a trade,” Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com said.
Oswalt has a career record of 159-93 with a 3.21 ERA.
