(ST. LOUIS) — Free-agent pitcher Roy Oswalt will be staying in the National League according to league sources reported on Friday. The team of his choice, the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.
The agreement according to the source would come “soon” pending a physical by Oswalt.
“It’s not yet 100 percent,” the source said.
“These are just rumors, and nothing more,” said Cardinals GM John Mozeliak in an email to ESPN.com’s baseball insider Jerry Crasnick.
In 23 starts for the Phillies in 2011 Oswalt with 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA.
