(BOSTON) — According to Boston Celtics Coach Doc Rivers, the team was informed Monday forward Jeff Green had successful surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.
Green will miss the entire 2011-2012 season. He found out during his team physical prior to the season that surgery would be necessary.
Before becoming aware of the operation, the C’s were hoping Green would be a big piece of the team this season.
Boston acquired Green from Oklahoma City in the Kendrick Perkins trade in the middle of last season, but he never seemed truly comfortable on the court. The team was hoping a new year and short training camp would provide their forward with that comfort.
The hope now is that Green will be back on the court for the beginning of the 2012-2013 season.
