Will Rob Lowe Replace Regis Philbin?

Mitchell Haaseth/NBC(NEW YORK) — The latest rumor on a replacement for Regis Philbin is Rob Lowe, according to a report by TMZ.
The actor already has a gig on Parks and Recreation, but the report says when Lowe did a guest host spot with Kelly Ripa on Live! with Kelly, execs at ABC “loved the chemistry” between the two. The report says network executives have been in talks with the actor’s reps in the hope of making the partnership permanent.
Speaking to a TMZ reporter at New York’s JFK International Airport, the actor said, “I love New York. I love the energy. It would be a nice change of pace. I’m a California boy, but it would be fun.” Live! with Kelly is produced in New York.
Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry Seinfeld, and Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, have also co-hosted the morning talk show since Philbin left late last year.
