Analyst: Michigan Win Would Make Santorum the GOP Frontrunner
Published at(WASHINGTON) — If Rick Santorum wins Michigan, he should be considered the new frontrunner for the Republican nomination, according to ABC News political contributor Matt Dowd.
“This is a huge, crucial moment,” Dowd said on ABC’s Good Morning America, when asked about the political consequences of a Romney loss in the former Massachusetts governor’s home state on February 28. “I think it’s actually the most important moment for Romney in this entire campaign up until now. The moment is: can he stop Rick Santorum like he stopped everybody else?”
“If Rick Santorum wins this, I think what we’re going to have is a new frontrunner for the first time in this race come after the Michigan primary going into Super Tuesday,” he said.
