(GROSSE POINTE, Mich.) — Bob Bashara, the Grosse Pointe, Mich. man at the heart of a murder mystery involving money, marriage, and allegations of a secret sex life is now speaking out 11 days after his wife, Jane, was found murdered.
The husband of the woman found strangled in her Mercedes Benz in the posh Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe nearly two weeks ago tells the Detroit Free Press that he had nothing to do with his wife’s death and called it “a slap in the face” that police have released handyman Joseph Gentz without providing his family special protection as requested by his sister. Bashara told the Free Press that while he is not accusing Gentz of murdering his wife, he has grown “wary.”
Gentz, who allegedly told investigators Bob Bashara paid him to kill his wife, was released from police custody on Friday. Bashara denied claims he hired a hit on his wife but did admit to having a money dispute with Gentz over work done on the couple’s home.
Bashara also denied various reports that he was having an affair and that there was a sex dungeon in the basement of a bar he owns.
