Danica Patrick Wrecks in Nationwide Opener

She crashed Thursday during the final lap of a Daytona 500 qualifying race, then she won the pole on Friday for Saturday’s Nationwide opener, and then during the Nationwide opener Saturday she wrecked on lap 49 when she was nudged by JR Motorsports teammate Cole Whitt.
“Well, we were just doing big pack racing and went down into three, got a little tap, got a little bit sideways, saved it, and then just got hit again and couldn’t save it. You guys saw the rest from there,” Patrick said.
Danica ended up returning to the race and finished in 38th place. This is her first full season in the Nationwide Series.
