It was the New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams who went off, hitting eight three pointers and scoring 38 points as the Nets beat the New York Knicks 100-92 Monday.

The win was redemption for Williams. Linsanity started its growth when Jeremy Lin scored 25 points in a 99-92 victory over the Nets February 4th.

That loss stuck with Williams.

“I don’t really watch too many games, but I do see Twitter, people tweet me and every, you know, three lines it was ‘Jeremy Lin destroyed Deron Williams,’ ” Williams said. “So I definitely took offense to that in the first game and definitely, like I said, I had it circled.”

The Carmelo/Lin duo will try to restart the Linsanity Wednesday, when the Knicks take on the Hawks.
