Dieticians Caution Against Derailing Diets on Super Bowl Snacks
Published at(NEW YORK) — Don’t let Super Bowl snacks derail you from your New Year’s weight loss resolution, dieticians say.
HealthDay reports that there are some critical ways to lessen the burden of overindulging on game day, according to health experts.
“We know January is the start of lots of new diets. But, then February starts and the first weekend is Super Bowl Sunday, one of the biggest eating days all year,” Alenka Ravnik-List, a registered dietitian and diabetes program coordinator at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, said in a center news release.”Hours in front of the television can test our willpower. Too often people with good intentions will fail.”
Ravnik-List recommended that dieters eat breakfast, have a light lunch, and squeeze in exercise before the 6 p.m. kickoff. Opt for light beers, champagne or dry wine over sugary cocktails and heavier beers. Another tip Ravnik-List offered is to sit more than an arm’s length away from chips and dipping bowls to avoid mindless munching.
