The driver of the number 24 has won four NASCAR cup championships, captured the checkered flag at the Brickyard 400 four times and cruised to victory lane at the Daytona 500 three times.

Last year, the 40-year-old Gordon finished eighth in the point’s standings with three victories, 13-top-five and 18 top-ten finishes.

“It was awesome to be able to win three races last year and be in the Chase,” Gordon said. “Going into the Chase, I thought we were in really good shape but obviously the chasing didn’t go our way. We are looking to turning that around and making a big difference when it comes time at the end of the season.”

Gordon made his Cup debut for Hendrick Motorsports in the final race of the 1992 season at Atlanta. The following year, he drove away with Rookie of the Year honors, finishing 14th in the points standings.

The green flag drops on the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Feb. 26 with the running of the Daytona 500.
