Indians Agree on One-Year Contract with Cabrera
Published at(CLEVELAND) — The Cleveland Indians avoided arbitration and signed their all-star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera to a one-year, $4.55 million dollar contract Saturday.
The 26-year old hit .273 with 25 homers and 92 RBIs last season. His 25 homers broke the record for most homers by an Indians shortstop.
Cabrera originally asked for $5.2 million to which the Indians countered with $3.75 million.
By agreeing to a contract, Cleveland continued its streak of 21 straight years of avoiding arbitration.
