After his team narrowly defeated Georgetown 64-61 in overtime, Boeheim recorded his 880th career win, passing Dean Smith for third on the all-time coaching wins list.

Boheim has been with Syracuse since 1976, and has led the team to numerous NCCA Tournament appearances, as well as a national championship during the 2002-2003 season. Despite the accomplishment, Boeheim wasn’t too focused on win 880.

“I just don’t think about those goals. I just don’t, nobody wants to listen, that’s ok,” Boeheim said following the win. “I just want to try to play this season and have this team do as well as they can do. That’s all that matters to me, nothing else matters.”

Boheim has led the Orange to a 23-1 record this season so far, and are ranked second in the nation.
