Melissa Carol Mansfield of Murrieta, Calif., was arrested around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a bathroom near the swimming pool of Chesney’s home just outside of Nashville, Williamson County authorities said.

Police say Mansfield had been drinking wine and smoking cigarettes by the singer’s pool.

“[The] corporal was looking around the perimeter and found her in a restroom,” Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Hugh Tharpe told Nashville affiliate WKRN. “She had at least one if not two bottles of wine with her.”

Mansfield, police say, traveled to Nashville from Knoxville on a Greyhound bus.  She then upgraded to a limousine to arrive in style at Chesney’s home, about 25 miles away from the Nashville bus station.

Once there she got around the gate and inside Chesney’s mansion, but was caught when the home’s alarm system alerted deputies to an intruder.

Chesney was not home at the time of the incident, both his publicist and Williamson County Sheriff’s officials confirmed.

It is not known where Chesney, just nominated for nine Academy of Country Music awards, was at the time of the intrusion.  He is scheduled to begin his Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw on June 2 in Florida.

The Knoxville native purchased the more than 11,000 square foot home in 2010 for just over $9 million.

Mansfield was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and criminal trespassing.

She was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bail.  She will next appear in court on Feb. 23.
