In an interview with NBC’s Today show scheduled to air Thursday morning, the 25-year-old actress says she’s “clean and sober” and intends to “move forward and in the right direction.”

As part of her lifestyle makeover, Lohan says she’s given up the party scene and has become “more of a homebody.”

The Mean Girls star tells Today anchor Matt Lauer, “I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend.  And I was so uncomfortable.  Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before.  And it just wasn’t fun for me.”

Lohan, who is set to complete her probation for previous DUI and theft convictions in late March, admits that she’d been in denial in the past about her personal issues.

She says, “It’s a scary thing to have to kind of express to people…I wasn’t as comfortable with myself then.  I think it was a fear factor that I had about what was really going on.  And, you know, I had to get that wakeup call.”

Asked whether she thinks producers and directors will hesitate to cast her in future projects, Lohan indicates that it will take time to regain their trust.

“I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself,” she says.

Lohan will host Saturday Night Live this weekend.  In addition, she’s been cast as Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie about the legendary actress.  Lohan tells Lauer that she’s been doing research on Taylor and that production on the movie begins soon.
